Time will magnify whatever you feed it
If you have good habits time becomes your ally. If you lack knowledge or understanding your bad habits, over time, increase in power and overwhelm your innate knowingness
The harmful is seen as useful and the useful as harmful.
This distortion of the intellect to discriminate is the cause of all bad habits.
If you improve 1% every day over a year you have improved 37%, that’s a lot and it’s easy!
Everyday that goes by you have put yourself in a stronger position. If you have bad habits time becomes your enemy and are dig the hole a bit deeper
Slowly making changes enables your nervous system, your brain wiring and your metabolic health to adjust and stabilise to the improved state.
Rather than stopping negative habits just bring in the light. Do health enhancing habits, and the darkness will disappear, just as exercise alters alcohol use incidentally
We meditate in the morning to reset the system and go out into the day, using that upgraded capacity and resilience, then meditate again in the early evening. Small constant changes accelerate your growth enormously! Then we desire that’s good for us because like attracts like and this more balanced nervous system state remains self referal reflecting that higher state of consciousness The result is our desires around diet, routine, exercise, all activities move in the direction of evolution.
Quite quickly what occurs is we find ourselves thriving
This is change without self discipline, we do not have to fight against the impulses of the mind or nervous system We moves our base state productivity and feeling into a state which spontaneously knows and desires what’s good for us !
Do less and accomplish more.
After many decades of listening to Maharishi speak, absorbing his wisdom and perspective on life, and then sharing it myself in daily life and when Teaching or mentoring, there’s one phrase I’ve heard him say more times than I can count: Do less to accomplish more.
In the beginning, many years ago, I took it as a sweet sentiment, almost like a gentle phrase from a wise man looking to appeal to western ways. But as the years have gone by, as I’ve practised and taught, and watched this wisdom take root in my own life, I see it clearly. What once felt like a charming saying now feels like a profound truth.
The shift is this: sustainable, lasting change, the kind that changes us from the inside out, doesn’t come from wrestling with our behaviours or forcing ourselves into new shapes. It comes from returning to the source of who we are, again and again, until that knowingness becomes the seed from which all thoughts sprout . Simply by closing our eyes each day, slipping into that deep pool of stillness, we are doing less than we ever imagined could matter. And yet, so much more is accomplished. Stress dissolves. The nervous system comes home to safety. Our inner fulfilment rises to the surface and we carry it with us into the world. And from that place, behaviour transformation is no longer a trial. It’s just the natural unfolding of life rooted in wholeness. So meditate and be simple!
