The meditation techniques and exercises on this website are not representing the brand name, the Transcendental Meditation® program (TM), nor is Suzanne Edwards as of Dec 2021 endorsed by Maharishi Foundation USA, Inc., or the licensee in Australia, MFA which teaches the Transcendental Meditation program.(Suzanne was a certified Teacher of Transcendental Meditation in Australia from 1996-2022) If you are interested in learning to meditate from a teacher who continues to subscribe to the licensee of the brand name, Transcendental Meditation® (TM®) program you can visit the Maharishi Foundation’s website.

You may have heard about the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation® program Transcendental Meditation (aka TM® or TM Meditation®) and wondered what it was all about. It’s a form of meditation held as a brand name under license by Maharishi Foundation that has been taught over some 50 years to approx. 5 million people worldwide, including celebrities who frequently describe its benefits, such as Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen Degeneres, David Lynch, and Howard Stern.

Meditation practice of any type can have numerous benefits for our mental and physical health. When it comes to meditation, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all practice. There are literally hundreds of meditation techniques which encompass practices from many different traditions, cultures, spiritual disciplines, knowledge traditions and religions. Each meditation type has a unique manner of practice, intent, purpose and effect. The scientific research on meditation confirms this as it shows unique psychological and physiological signatures for the various types and categories of meditations and differing measured results. Reviewing the literature may be of value to you in deciding what type/category of practice you feel is best for you.

I highly recommend working with a meditation teacher. Although meditation is simple to do, a lot of confusing things can happen so it is useful to have someone that knows you and can give you advice for your specific situation

Finally, as with any form of learning, individual teachers vary tremendously in personality and teaching style. So one teacher may be a very good fit for your friend but a less good fit for you. I suggest shopping around a little to get a sense of different teachers and meditation styles and find what works best for you. Talk in person to your proposed teacher to ensure they are a good match for your personality and skill level. Asking how many years they have taught full-time or part time (Not how many years ago they did their training ie Ive been a teacher for X years can be insightful). Ensure they have a follow up program that they actually deliver and check out their personal google and Trustpilot ratings to hear what real clients have to say.
